Pastor Sam Phipps
When the Church gets together for the Easter celebration there will probably be music. It may be an amazing choir “special”, an inspiring solo or an instrumental piece that directs us to the Lord. In each instance the music seems so “right” for worship, as it should. Music is such an important part of our lives. It is powerful. The Bible tells us:
1. Singing prepares us for trials we are going through or yet to come.
Acts 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Even in suffering, SING!
2. When you sing you are being obedient.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Singing isn’t an option, it’s a command.
3. When you sing, you are glorifying God.
Psalm 96:1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! 4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.
The chief purpose for each of us is to bring God glory.
So, as many of us will attend an Easter service at a church, sing! Sing in your trials! Sing as an act of obedience! Sing and bring Him glory!
